Crochet... Colour... Yarn porn... Instagram... Fat Acceptance.

Just a tumblr for things that interest me.... That is, after all, the point, no?

{made} — Catchall Crochet Tray.
Wildfiber yarn shop had a crochet doily swap May 2012 and I wanted to do something a little out of the ordinary for it.
I was inspired by this basket/tray, but wanted it to be much fancier. So, I designed my own version of the pattern and used a homemade starch to stiffen the tray; directions can be found online here.

Love this!

I wonder how the popcorn bits are done - maybe the colour is carried on the left side, hmm?

Yes„ you’re right!! @.@ I’m confused

Two ways I would have done it:1) Carry the yarn along each row by crocheting around the rainbow yarn. The advantage is that it gives you a clean look on the back (it keeps your work reversible if that’s your intention). However it probably uses up a lot more yarn because it has to carried along each round. Because these are two contrasting yarns, you also take the chance that if you stitch loosely the rainbow will show in between the white. 2) Simply pick up the rainbow as needed for the bubble stitch. This will likely use less yarn, but it will cause the back of your work to be a mish mash of pieces of thread. It will look like the back of knitting when it has a lot of colourwork. In this case, I would use the second method. It seems to be a zippered pouch so it’s not as if you would see the inside. You don have to worry a out keeping it clean and presentable.

I’m just not sure about this hat. It was super easy to make and looked great in the magazine …. but somehow it just doesn’t do anything for me!

I’m not a hat person as a rule so I took a long shot and I don’t think it paid off.

Close up of the detail on Thors helmet, really pleased with how it worked out!
